Aztec Records are delighted to welcome Oblique to their roster after coming across the long standing duo when browsing the web for our Pure Synthwave and Pure Retrowave compilations. Their very versatile output and acute attention to detail have brought to the world songs that go from upbeat, bubblegum pop that could have been released in 1984 to darker, more sombre creations closer to alternative, current genres such as Darkwave or even Darksynth.

Their extremely polished sound and infectious melodies, combined with their outstanding visual imagery have positioned the Iberian duo as one of the most creative and resilient acts of the retro scene.

Black Heart definitely finds them in a much darker mood. Mixing a very distinctive production that blends Synthwave and Retrowave genres with an acute sense of nostalgia. Black heart is the most introspective and poignant offering to date.
Depicting the dramatic end of a relationship where there seems to be no redeeming qualities about the former love interest. There is a definitely empowering message within the conflicting lyrics when they sing.. 'You can't break my heart. Yours is so black'

Black Heart is scheduled to come out on 10th July on Aztec Records and the EP comes packed with remixes from very renowned producers of the synthwave and retrowave scene such as Carbon Killer, Thought Beings, Noiseed and Sauvage as well as Aztec Record's own Zenith Volt as well as the popular DJ Carlos Bayona.

Joining Aztec Records seems a match made in neon heaven.

It's hard to pick a favourite track. This is the only album i have so far deemed as "perfect", where every track, even the intro, is just a masterpiece in its own right. From the hard hitting Perturbator's Theme to the emotional title track, its 68 minutes of perfection. 10/10. connivingkhajiit
